Scoble predicts explains the end problems of friendfeed:
http://www.google.com/reader/view/?tab=cy#stream/feed%2Fhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.scobleizer.com%2Ffeed%2F
this is one of those watershed moments where one realizes that it doesn’t matter how well something is designed, if it doesn’t catch on then it just doesn’t catch on.
good job Scoble; supporting the good guys is still really important.

empire builder is playing in minot this saturday. i haven’t played a show in minot since the early ’90’s. i’m excited and nervous and happy to see my old and new friends. maybe i’ll see you there.

http://www.murrayspomade.com/
i saw this link on my can of murrays this morning and decided to check it out. i’ve seen it before; but i always forget about it by the time i’m on the internet. reading the site brought back all sorts of memories.
firstly; i believe our group found murray’s at the drug store in the west acres mall and were hooked. i remember i tried a couple of other products as well but murray’s was clearly the superior product. this would be about 14 years ago. several of my peers used it and i’m sure that some still do. for the longest time i thought it was our little secret and also that we didn’t know or have access to real pomade that other people used.
imagine my surprise when at a ‘me first and the gimme gimme’s’ show i saw one guitar player toss an orange tin to another band member prior to their set. wha?!? other people (punks!?) know about murray’s?
but now, after reading the website, it looks like george clooney, justin timberlake and leonardo dicaprio are also aware of the product.
lastly, i’ve never used anything other than ‘original’ and ‘light’ but after seeing brian setzer using ‘nunile’ i ordered some up.

i’ve started running again. if i post it here it makes it more real, right? i don’t have any particular goal in mind except to be able to run a long way at a very slow pace. maybe this will all culminate into a marathon relay at the next fargo marathon. i sat it out this year and i really regret it.

since returning to nd, i’ve golfed more than i have in the previous few years. this is a very good thing. it forces one to walk outside for about 4 hours. that is the very best part. the game is secondary but i might add that my play has improved since i’ve been able to actually go a few rounds (as opposed to once a year).
i used to want ‘ping eye 2 beryllium copper irons‘ w/ matching wooden woods. now i’m not so sure. all the club in the world will probably not help my game any. and those pings seem a little bulky.

i just heard tom waites’ ‘grow up’ (covered by the ramones) on the radio. for those of you that are unaware: north dakota public radio rules. its called prairie public. but ive heard the danforths, wilco, etc etc etc. they actually do music programming peppered with the national stuff.
but i don’t want to grow up, either. playing in a punk band helps but having a job doesn’t. enjoying a surly furious helps but then not enjoying a surly furious due to responsibility doesn’t. getting rid of cable and playing outside helps but downloading bit torrent stuff and watching it in bed may also help, now that i think about it. it’s kind of like working against the establishment by accepting it’s offerings but on my own terms and without commercials. so maybe that one is a draw. i still drive a crusty old car. i ride my bike when it’s completely comfortable (schedule-wise) to do so. i still believe in people. maybe i’m not quite grown up yet.
bit torrent. man. where is this gonna take us?
